In the website(notification section) they have mentioned cutoff marks. For BC/MBC/SC/ST minimum cutoff is 177 it is mentioned that this cutoff includes interview score. But I’m not sure about the cutoff to shortlist for interview in the website it’s not clearly mentioned.
Regarding your score…make sure you included negative mark for wrong answers. In the backside of the OMR sheet they have mentioned -1 mark for all wrong answers.
Technical paper – 200 * 1.5 = 300 marks
General Knowledge – 100 * 2 = 200 marks
Records & Interview – 70 marks
Total – 570 marks.

177/570 is score for final selection or is the score for interview is not clear. If you have scored more than 177 in written exam then there are chances to get shortlist for interview. There are only 22 vacancy for Electrical Eng but the cutoff they have mentioned in the website is less so it’s not very clear. ECE, EEE and E&T branches coming under Electrical Eng service whether there is separate cutoff for 3 branches or same cutoff is also not clear

There is no details about the negative mark in the notification PDF. But in the backside of the OMR sheet(instructions) it is mentioned that -1 for wrong answer. For GK paper also they have given the same type OMR sheet in that also it’s mentioned -1 mark for wrong answer. If we consider the instructions mentioned in OMR sheet then there will -1 negative mark for all wrong answers and it is applicable for both paper. But in all other common entrance exams like isro, drdo, bhel usually negative mark is 1/3 rd for a question (if it is 1mark for a quest then -ve mark is -1/3).

As far as my concern, OMR sheets used are common for any exam, so we cannot consider that, also i don’t know how come you got that much time to go through OMR instructions and all,ok thats fine.but Generally in TNPSC they wont follow -ve mark concept, even if its applicable it should be informed in notification itself. otherwise NA.

there is no cutoff mark for selection. canditates shortlisted as per vacancy available from top mark canditate to no canditate reqd in desecending order. if u are in top 100 to 300 list means u will get the chance. otherwise not.
Exam is not tough at all. I got 100+ paper 1 and 50+ paper 2 got correct and as i tought -ve one mark i didn’t attend around 40 q’s in paper 1 and 20 q’s in paper 2. But there is no negative mark so i think many people could have done well. Cutoff may go beyond 300/500.
As there are only 22 vaccines and it includes priority for Tamil medium candidates + women candidates + also SC/ST kota…

There is no negative mark. i got a reply mail from TNPSC. In my exam hall we followed OMR sheet instructions (mentioned -ve mark for all wrong answers). But now everything went wrong..Whoever taking exam 1st time how they know is there any -ve marks in TNPSC exams???

I dont think many would have crossed 400..might be few that too within single digits. Those who have 300 and 350 have good chances to get clear and for those who are less than 300 will also have chances to get through based on your stream of engineering…

U have mentioned 39 candidates will be called for interview(Mech). From where you have got this information. Do you know how many for ECE?? In the notification it’s mentioned that 28 vacancies for Electrical Eng post.
If its 28 vacancies then 84 candidates will be called for interview..

In GK answer key, the answers for almost 3 questions were found to be wrong..(3*2=6 marks).
In Electrical& Instrumentation answer key, the answers for about 7 questions were found to be wrong-7*1.5=10.5marks.
Thats why they named it as “tentative answer key”.
Also, I spoke with the officials in the Grievances department of TNPSC. I have sent my grievances to them with all the proofs and the page numbers of the books.
Hope they will correct and make a final answer key soon. Probably, they will not display the final answer key.
I spoke with many of my friends who belong to various branches..I want to share few things.
Analysis of GK paper.

I dont think mechanical engineering question paper was that much easy for people to get 340…probably a few might have crossed 300..my guess is many would be in the range of 250 to 300..So those who are above 300 will be called to the interview for sure and few others inbetween the range of 250 to 300 may also be called based on vacany levels

Maximum mark in ECE so far discussed is 312(see Narain’s post) and one guy scored around 300. The other leading scores are 268, 265,. But in the TNPSC CESE facebook community they have mentioned many have scored more than 300 in ECE but i’m not able to find any such posts about marks in the page whatever they have mentioned(Title – Assistant Engineer PWD). As per my query We can expect the result between 17th may to 30th may. But last 45 days the activities in tnpsc are very slow so the result may gets delay further 15 to 20 days.
